Yeah, really. I'm wowed by the information I just read in the March, 2015 Homebuyers and Sellers Report from Texas Area Realtors® (TAR). The report states, "The average For Sale by Owner (FSBO) home sold for 30 percent less than homes sold with the assistance of a Texas REALTOR®." (Emphasis mine.) It goes on to report, "The median sales price of a FSBO home in Texas was $160,000 compared to $228,000 with a Texas REALTOR®."

The second point may reflect more about the price range of homes sold by FSBO; however, it's hard to argue against the 30% figure. This percentage is close to what is reported nationwide for FSBO sales by the National Association of Realtors®. What I haven't seen quantified yet is a comparison of days on market. Since using a Realtor® means access to MLS, which gets your home in front as many buyers as possible, I can't help but think professionally listed homes sell much quicker.
